As usual, this article will survey and briefly discuss a significant number of novels written in the last calendar year. In addition, it will take note of important activities in the business of literature, which includes publishing houses merging or being absorbed, changes in the upper echelons of maisons d’édition and their possible implications for houses’ publishing decisions, and the increasingly tenuous financial situation of independent publishers. Despite the myriad restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, literary activity, be it creative or editorial, was unusually active.
