Abstract
ABSTRACTThe Bulgarian Plant Genomics Database (BPGD) (http://bulgenom.abi.bg), is a web based information resource, focused on plant genomics and biotech research in Bulgaria and its application to management and utilization of plant genetic resources. The BPGD includes: (i) databases of molecular markers data, concerning genotyping and mapping of various crops and plant species; (ii) information on gene cloning and expression, and transgenic research in Bulgaria; (iii) mapping of Bulgarian research units related to plant biotechnology, breeding and genetic resources. Information of the research activity and respective link for contacts for each research unit, participating to BPGD, is provided. The resource includes summaries of the biotech and genomics research performed in Bulgaria, related to particular crop and plant species. The BPGD is aimed to support an efficient application of the modern biotech and genomics approaches for integral management and utilization of national plant genetic resources. It will also provide an adequate transparency and publicity of plant biotech research in Bulgaria, required for successful participation into international research cooperation.
