Abstract
The budget of kinetic energy is computed for several periods in the lowest 100 meters. It is shown that the flux of energy is everywhere upward and that the divergence of energy flux is an important term in the energy budget at large negative Richardson numbers. Under these conditions the flux is produced mostly by low-frequency turbulence.
