Abstract

A previously healthy 26-year-old man presented to the emergency department (ED) after he developed chest discomfort, right arm weakness, and malaise that progressed over the next 9 days to include headache, nausea, and vomiting. He had no significant past medical history, no history of alcohol, intravenous or intranasal drug use, no exposure to livestock, wild animals, or cats, no known exposure to contaminated food or water, and no recent travel. He had one female sexual partner.
