Abstract

Pull-out and bond beam test results on bond resistance between lightweight-aggregate aggregate (Lytag) concrete and steel are reported. It is shown that except at later stages of loading, square twisted bars show better resistance to slip than either mild steel or Tentor bars. The average bond stresses obtained from the bond beam tests show that bond resistance between Lytag concrete and mild steel reinforcement is lower compared with gravel concrete of equivalent concrete crushing strength.
