Abstract
Yb3+ stoichiometric ceramic sample Ca9Yb(VO4)7 was synthesized by the conventional high-temperature solid state reaction. The emission spectra and decay curves of both the near-infrared emission and the cooperative luminescence were measured. The sample presents the bright blue cooperative up-conversion luminescence centered at 480nm under the excitation of a 976nm laser diode (LD) at room temperature. The blue emission mechanism was discussed on the pump-power dependent emission intensity and the luminescence lifetimes. The up-conversion is assigned to cooperative de-excitation of Yb3+–Yb3+ pairs.
