Abstract

The populations of Cassiopea sp. found in marine pools on Aldabra Atoll, Indian Ocean are described. The results of measurements of the photosynthetic rate of their symbiotic algae are interpreted to indicate a considerable accretion of carbon within the symbiotic system as a whole.
