Abstract

Abstract The goitre prevention technique was employed to measure the biological activity of synthetic and natural thyroproteins as well as L-thyroxine and L-triiodothyronine. These studies indicated that L-thyroxine could not be used as a reference standard for natural thyroid preparations since the log dose response lines were not parallel. However, L-thyroxine was a suitable reference standard for the biological assay of the synthetic iodinated proteins
