Abstract

Reviewing the biochemistry of wound healing in vaginal surgery is essential before embarking on reconstructive procedures. The use of graft materials requires the surgeon to consider the environment in which such a graft is being placed and its effect on healing. This review describes wound healing in general with special emphasis on pelvic reconstruction using biomaterials.
