Abstract
Binding of the red thiazine dyes, phenothiazone and thionol, by plasma albumin, yeast nucleic acid, and thymus nucleoprotein has been observed spectrophotometrically. Binding constants have been evaluated by the equilibrium dialysis method. The results indicate that binding of these compounds is not extensive: relatively few binding sites per molecule appear to be available. Nevertheless the dissociation constants indicate a moderately strong binding.
