Abstract

The well depthDΛ of a Λ-particle in nuclear matter is calculated from the central and the tensor part of an effective Λ-nucleon potential which reproduces the low-energy Λ-nucleon data and has different hard-core radii in the singlet and the triplet state. The first-order contribution of the central potential toDΛ is found to be in agreement with the experimental data ifa) the rearrangement energy is taken into account andb) the effective Λ massMΛ* is taken smaller than the Λ massMΛ. The tensor contribution toDΛ turns out to be very small.
