Abstract

After the establishment of the electronic studio at Akademie der Künste and the institutionalization of other platforms for electroacoustic music, a first generation of electroacoustic composers developed who were really able to “study” electroacoustic music. Nevertheless, this marks—compared to the West—a special case, because it happened more or less independently from the formation of aesthetic schools. These composers are very much formed by the double experience of the GDR and the years after the fall of the Wall. Some musicians of this generation are mentioned specifically in this overview.
