Abstract

The work would be based on some discussions on the Bible which is a cultural artifact in the modern world. It will also focus on what role the Bible plays in our culture. Despite the ratification by African states of several human rights instruments protecting the human rights of women in Africa, and the solemn commitment of the African states to eliminate all forms of discrimination and harmful practices against women, women in Africa are denied the equal enjoyment of their human rights, in particular by virtue of the lesser status ascribed to them by tradition and custom, or as a result of overt or covert discrimination. It is upon this, that the writer, being a female wants to examine in addition to the above, therelationship between culture and women’s human rights. The writer will employ Narrative Criticism which will help communicate and provide structure for human experience and influence people to share common explanation and understandings.
