Abstract
This paper describes tests carried out on fourteen 1·6 m × 1·6 m × 150 mm reinforced concrete slab elements loaded with uniform bending moments applied about either or both orthogonal axes and with or without uniform twisting moments using a purpose-built test rig. Results are given up to and beyond the maximum load for the tests. The results obtained from the tests have been compared with an incremental non-linear analysis which is also described. The results have also been compared with the Wood–Armer equations and it is shown that these can be unconservative if the twisting moment is significant.
