Abstract

The behaviour of a fixed bed porous flow-through monel electrode has been investigated for the reduction of nitrobenzene to p-aminophenol in an aqueous acidic electrolyte and under essentially activation controlled conditions. Chemical yields have been determined experimentally as well as calculated from polarisation curves for a plane electrode. Potential and current distributions have been interpreted by means of a simple one-dimensional model.
