Abstract

When organic bases are dissolved in nitromethane they react with the solvent to form salts. This reaction occurs only if the pkb (H2O) value of the base is less than 11. Experimental evidence for such interaction is presented by isolation of a typical reaction product and by a study of the behavior of these compounds during nonaqueous titration.
