Abstract

This study intends to evaluate the Romanian consumer’s opinions upon the ecological products and to assess the differences between opinion according to respondent’s age in the urban population of the Transilvania region of Romania. . We will present further, a questionnaire research on this topic knowing that, following the increasing population’s awareness concerning the global effects upon the environment and human health, the consumption of ecological food products exploded in the EU-countries About 2/3 of the urban population of the region of Transilvania bought at least once an ecological product, existing some differences between the categories of ages. The middle age category seems to be the most important segment of consumers. Other questions concerned the reasons of consumption, the sources of information about the ecological products, the level of satisfaction concerning the number and quality of products, the willingness to pay more for this king of products. Overall , from the statistical point of view no major differences can be found between age-categories of consumers.
