Abstract

Weekly field trips to collect bee flies were carried out from October 2001 to November 2002. More than 870 specimens from 72 localities were collected. Specimens of Bombyliidae collected previously from Jordan and preserved in the University of Jordan Insect Museum as well as in other Jordanian collections were studied. The specimens were found to belong to 131 species in 41 genera and eight subfamilies. Of these, 123 species are recorded for the first time. The number of specimens examined, localities, and dates in Jordan are provided for each species followed by remarks.
