Abstract

The BBC's public digital television services have been available to viewers since October 1998 on satellite (DSAT) and November 1998 on terrestrial transmissions (DTT). Digital cable services are expected to be launched later this year. The purpose of this paper is to describe the BBC's current digital services, and the technical infrastructure that has been installed to support them. Considerable development continues on enhancements, which are gradually being introduced. The more immediate of these are described. (5 pages)
