ABSTRACT Nations export cultural and political values through news and entertainment in attempts to wield “soft power” abroad. The BBC, long viewed as a source of the United Kingdom’s soft power internationally, also promotes democracy at home through its domestic programming. One overlooked source of soft power is the long-running radio drama The Archers.
