Abstract
Abstract The basic state pension (BSP) (also known as the social security retirement pension or simply the retirement pension) is based on the state pension scheme that was introduced by the 1975 Social Security Act and came into effect on 6 April 1978. The early legislation concerning the state pension schemes was consolidated in the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992 and the Social Security Administration Act 1992.
