Abstract
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive, non-ionizing neuroimaging method, which uses the natural electromagnetic properties of body tissues to produce detailed images of the brain. This chapter introduces the essential principles of structural MRI, outlines fMRI and other more specialized MRI modalities used in neuroscience research, and concludes with a brief discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of MRI.
