Abstract The main objectives of the German Antarctic North Victoria Land Expedition (GANOVEX) 1979-80 were to study the pre-Permian basement units of northern Victoria Land and to compare them in order to draw conclusions on the geotectonic development of Antarctica and the rest of Gondwana.
