Abstract

An industrialized building system (IBS) may be defined in which all building components such as wall, floor slab, beam, column and staircase are mass produced either in factory or at site under strict quality control and minimal on-site activities [1,2]. IBS is a continuum beginning from utilizing craftsmen for every aspect of construction to a system that make use of manufacturing production in order to minimize resource wastage and enhance value for end users [3]. A case study have been derived into one of the IBS manufacturer company in Malaysia discovering their efforts surviving in the market based on their innovative products called ‘Fibre Cement Wall’. The objective of the study is actually to discuss the innovation that needs to take place within the industry. Besides that, the resistance or barriers that may be faced and the strategy to overcome the resistance to materialize the innovation also become the objectives in this study. This study also aims to highlight the system used, its characteristic or feature in selected innovative product by Fibre Cement Wall (FCW). This is some of the data collected from the interview based on the experience as a from Aurum Synergy Group members. Other than that, some relevant data for this report are collected include articles and journals as the primary data.
