Abstract

Two emission band systems attributed to CdF are described and analysed. One, in the orange region, is probably due to a 2Π → 2Σ transition, and the other, in the yellow-green, to 2Σ → 2Σ. The vibrational analyses suggest that the two systems have a common lower state, 2Σ, which is presumably the ground state. The origins of the two systems are roughly 16558 and 18871 cm-1. respectively, and the vibrational coefficients ωe and xeωe are of the orders 694.3 and 4.96 for the lower 2Σ state, 704.4 and 5.74 for the 2Π state, and 672.4 and 5.14 for the excited 2Σ state. The heats and products of dissociation and the electronic structures of the three states of CdF are discussed.
