Abstract

AbstractIn this study, a printed rectangular monopole antenna with a band‐notch function is proposed for ultra‐wideband (UWB) applications. The notched frequency band is achieved by embedding an E‐slot in the rectangular radiation patch. The notched frequency band can be controlled by adjusting the location, length, and the width of the slot. A design example for an UWB monopole antenna with a notched frequency band at 5 GHz is demonstrated. The antenna also shows omnidirectional radiation patterns across the whole operating bandwidth that is suitable for UWB applications. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
