Abstract
The principles of building the traditional balance of production and consumption volumes of electricity in the electric power system are stated. We show the difficulties of using such a balance to analyze current trends in the development of electric power systems. The balance of power differentials in an electric power system is presented as equality between demand and supply of power changes in power system. The demand on power change is determined by the algebraic sum of the change in power of consumption and changes in power of generating power units of nuclear and cogeneration plants as well as renewable energy sources. The supply on power change is determined by the algebraic sum of the changes in power of generating power units in hydro-, pumped storage and thermal power plants. The balance of power differentials is used to analyze current trends in the development of the electric power system of Ukraine in conditions of intensive input of generating capacities of renewable energy sources. Such analysis is based on daily schedules of electricity production and consumption from 2017 - 2019.
