Abstract

The aim of the note is to demonstrate a numerical solution procedure based on the method of orthogonal collocation (Finlayson, 1972; Villadsen and Michelsen, 1978), where the problems associated with the Danckwerts boundary conditions are avoided by treating the bed as a section in an infinitely long system. The procedure is illustrated for a steady-state chemical reactor as well as for a non-steady-state model of chromatographic column
