Abstract

By generalizing the Adler-Weisberger sum rule to complex nuclei we show that the enhancement of the effective axial charge formfactor of the nucleon in J + a3 J −, Δ T = 1 weak transitions is a direct consequence of the chiral symmetry constraints imposed by the current algebra commutation relation for axial charges.
