Abstract

The dynamic, adiabatic and diabatic entrance potentials in stronglydamped reactions of 238U+238U, 232Th+250Cf arecalculated and compared. The feature of the dynamical potentialimplies that it is possible for the composite systems to sticktogether for a period of time. By means of the improved quantummolecular dynamics model the time evolution of the density andcharge distributions of giant composite systems and their fragmentsfor reactions 238U+238U, 232Th+250Cf areinvestigated, from which the lifetimes of giant composite systems atdifferent energies are obtained. The longest average lifetime of238U+238U is found when the incident energy is aboutEc.m.=1080 MeV, which is about 1200 fm/c.
