Abstract

The Australian Women’s Register was established in 2000, in response to a strategy developed by the National Foundation for Australian Women and its associated Australian Women’s Archives Project. Now based at the University of Melbourne’s eScholarship Research Centre, the Register is a fully online archival resource dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the history of Australian women. This article traces the Register’s history from its inception to the present, and discusses its collaborative relationships with the University of Melbourne and the National Library of Australia and Trove.
