Abstract

With the present material, we continue the analysis of the problems of the population's attitude toward privatization based on the findings of polls conducted by the All-Union Center for the Study of Public Opinion on Socioeconomic Issues (VTsIOM). At the same time, it must be taken into account that for a number of reasons—the improvement of research technology and instruments, the better quality of the sampling, etc.—it is not always possible to compare the data of VTsIOM polls, including those published in the pages of Voprosy ekonomiki. Strictly speaking, VTsIOM is only now beginning to monitor the reaction of public opinion to privatization. Nevertheless, the findings of the latest studies basically confirm earlier results and at the same time allow us to make a number of new observations. But before we go into them, a few remarks of a general nature [are in order].
