Abstract

The attenuation of a fast (≈ 2.6 MeV) neutron beam by various new, polymeric materials has been measured using an indirect method with a Ge(Li) gamma-ray spectrometer. In addition an attempt was made to estimate the effect of these materials on the thermal flux. Macroscopic removal cross sections for the elements involved were deduced and compared to values inferred from total microscopic cross sections.
