The Attachment of Adolescent with Working Mother

Abstract

Abstract. Adolescence is often called the preparation period for becoming adult whereindividually they act and behave and grow into adulthood. The successful developmentprocess of adolescent to adulthood depends on care and guidance from people in theirfamily or parents especially mother. The research focus was aimed to analyse theattachment of adolescent with working mother. The purpose of the research was toanalyse characteristic, attachment of adolescent with working mother, the relationshipand meeting intensity between adolescent and working mother. This research usedqualitative approach. Data resource consisted four working mothers and fouradolescents who have working mother. Data collection technique used in-depthinterview, passive participation observation and documentation study. The analysisstage covering data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The result showed thatthe attachment of adolescent with working mother have differences between one familyand another. Factors that may affect attachment intensity differences betweenadolescent with working mother covering; history of child care using caregiver orhousemaid; awareness and understanding of adolescent and working mother respectiveactivities; and alternative effort which is conducted by adolescent and working motherto overcome that obstruct communication.
