Abstract

The wavy area of north-west Bohemia (Czechoslovakia) is simulated by a cylindrical surface model. A curvilinear orthogonal system of coordinates along the model surface is introduced. The hydrodynamical equations of motion are transformed into this system of coordinates. By applying boundary-layer assumptions, the equations of motion for the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) above the model are derived. The equations and boundary conditions show an equivalence of the ABL above the model with that above a flat surface with external pressure gradient.
