Abstract

Introduction: Musculoskeletal injuries (MSIs) represent the most common reason for medical encounters, with arm/shoulder injuries ranking first among injury locations in active duty US Armed Forces in 2015. Within Special Operation Forces (SOF), upper extremity (UE) MSIs were the most common in Naval Special Warfare Operators. Identifying MSI risk factors is an important step in preventing injuries and improving force readiness. The purpose of this study was to determine the association between UE MSIs with body composition and physiological measures in SOF.
