STUDY DESIGN: Rectal temperature was measured every 2-3 hours in all women (n = 3075) with gestational age $36 weeks admitted to the labor ward from the start of active labor until 2 hours after delivery in 2 hospitals in Amsterdam (one university, one general) from June 2000 to January 2002. Normal labor (NL, n = 637) was defined as gestational age $37 weeks, spontaneous onset of labor, ruptured membranes 5 internal examinations, and PROM >18 hrs, average temperature was respectively 0.38C, 0.18C, and 0.18C higher than in remaining group during the last 3 hours before delivery.
