Abstract

Methods for the assessment of anxiety in children have a longer history than do methods for the assessment of childhood depression. The concept of anxiety in children has been accepted in psychology for a number of years, but the theoretical notion of childhood depression met with considerable resistance until quite recently. Now that the idea of childhood depression is generally accepted, however, a number of assessment techniques are appearing in the literature, even though most of these are still in the developmental stage.
