Abstract

We studied significance of ascorbic acid content in unshiu oranges in three layout between ones grown in southern and northern districts in Chita-gun, Aichi-ken divided by the line, where the mean lowest temperature during January was 1°C, between ones grown south-and north-side of trees in the two districts, and between ones in the two districts thinning out in November and December, and obtained the following results:(1) We admitted significance of ascorbic acid content in 1% level between unshiu oranges grown in the two districts, thinning out in both November and December.(2) We admitted significance of ascorbic acid content in 1% level between unshiu oranges grown in north-side of trees in the two districts thinning out in November, but no significance of ascorbic acid content even in 5% level between ones grown in north-side of trees in the two districts thinning out in December. We admitted significance of ascorbic acid content in 1% level between unshiu oranges grown in south-side of trees in the two districts thinning out in both November and December.(3) We admitted significance of ascorbic acid content in 1% level between unshiu oranges grown in the two sides of trees in the southern district thinning out in December, but no significance even in 5% level between ones in the remaining three cases.
