Abstract
The article focuses on the conservation of art and modern cultural heritage items that are made out of plastics. It states objects made of plastics, such as the spacesuits used in the Apollo mission, and paintings using acrylic paints, are suffering from plastic degradation. It reports the four plastics most likely to undergo decay are polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyurethane, cellulose nitrate, and cellulose acetate. It mentions the use of cleaning agents such as isopropanol to clean plastics.
