Abstract

The purpouse of the study is to consider diorama “The Storming of Turkish Wall” by Viktor Poltavets in the context of the development of art dioramas and panoramas as components of historical battle painting in Ukraine and Europe. The methodology of the article is based on the scientific method of system-historical research, biographical method, method of observing the artists practical activities and the way of performing a complex work of art. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the determination of the significance and the comparative analysis of the the high achievements of historical and battle painting in Ukraine, its weighty sound as an integral part of Europien art, the relevance of understanding the presence and preservation of the national art school in the XXI century. The research is based on a comparison of famous Ukrainian, Russian, European masters of historical painting. Conclusion. The analysis shows a high level of development of historical and battle painting in Ukraine, saving in it a strong academic school as a fundamental basis for future creative achievements, traditions and continuity in the aforementioned branch of art.
