Abstract

The tail unit, flaps and flying controls are made at one of the Société Nationale de Constructions Aéronautiques du Sud‐Ouest's main factories at Bois Colombes, although originally the tail unit was to have been made at Bordeaux, from which transport to Toulouse would have been rather more convenient. However, while the first component was being made the new P.I.C.A.O. provisions for asymetric engine failure were promulgated and it was decided to redesign the tail to conform to them. This resulted in the addition of two meters to its height and it was no longer possible to manufacture the unit in the buildings at Bordeaux—even in the main hall at Bois Colombes it is necessary to sink the jig in a pit about one meter deep.
