Abstract

AbstractThe international Araucaria Project aims to provide an improved local calibration of the extragalactic distance scale out to distances of a few Megaparsecs. We present a brief, up-to-date review of different results and ongoing projects to (i) better understand the Baade–Wesselink projection factor used in distance determinations based on Cepheids, and (ii) improve the eclipsing-binary technique of distance determination using CHARA/VEGA interferometric observations.
