Abstract
AFAF I. MELEIS, R.N., PH.D., F.A.A.N., is a professor in the School of Nursing, University of California, San Francisco. She teaches theory development and research. Dr. Meleis consults nationally and internationally in nursing theory development, and in nursing education. She is the author of numerous articles, many of them related to women's health care issues and international nursing. Her current clinical as well as research involvement is with Arab Americans.
