Abstract

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic and therapeutic values of flexible fiberoptic bronchoscope (FB) in perioperative management of the patients with congenital cardiac disease (CHD).Methods From Jan 2010 to May 2012,105 CHD patients were performed flexible bronchoscopy.The clinical data of these patients were retrospectively analyzed to determine the role of FB in perioperative management of the patients with CHD.Results Three patients were diagnosed with acute laryngitis,11 with vocal cord paralysis,1 with larynx,1 with laryngeal web,4 with laryngomalacia,6 with bilateral bronchial stenosis,34 with left bronchus,1 with right bronchus,43 with tracheobronchial intimal inflammation,and 36 with atelectasis.Conclusions Flexible bronchoscopy is a safe and useful procedure in the perioperative management of the patients with congenital cardiac disease.
