Abstract

The present article is concerned with usability of smartphone applications in the field of tourism and excursions to expand rural tourism in the territory of the Rostov region. Analysis of the market of smartphone touristic applications, their relevance in regard to various parameters (preferred territories, user age), geography of arrival, growth rate of user count. Recommendations on the development of smartphone application usage in the field of rural tourism with consideration of the existing possibilities and prospects.

Introduction

Smartphone applications are currently gaining in high popularity. They are actively used in various sectors, including tourism. Such applications are those innovations that make it possible to more actively develop both organized tourism, and self-guided tours and excursions. It is especially important to develop mobile touristic applications in rural areas. In rural areas that have tourist potential, but do not have organized tourist routes and excursions, it is important to attract self-guided tourists by means of mobile applications. Rural tourism is able to have a positive effect on the development of the local economy, replenishing the budget, developing related industries (trade, public catering, transport), as well as reducing social tension through the creation of jobs
