Abstract

White spirit (mineral turpentine) has been investigated as a solvent in field dithizone colorimetry and found to be quite suitable. The difference in the solubility of the copper dithizonate from the lead and zinc dithizonates at a ph of 8.5 can be used to distinguish the presence of these metals.
