Abstract

For years, returned merchandise was generally viewed as a headache for both the seller and the buyer. Reverse logistics, the movement of materials back up the supply chain, is being recognized by many organizations and firms. While global environmental concerns have been the motivation for initiating the field of reverse logistics, firms have discovered that reverse logistics plays an important role in achieving "green supply chains". The construction of a practical reverse logistics information system not only can realize the high-efficiency of reverse logistics operation but also can establish a new information management solution. This paper articulates a way of using unified modeling language (UML) to develop a reverse logistics information system. The results show that the UML was useful in the development of reverse logistics information system. In summary, this paper can shed light on future research in development of reverse logistics infomationization.
