Abstract

Team-based learning is the use of learning teams to enhance student engagement and the quality of student or trainee learning. Many studies have shown that TBL teaching can improve the independent learning ability of internal medicine residents and dental residents, nevertheless, the study is very few for the characteristics of residents in TBL method. This study compares the differences in TBL teaching between residents and provincial fellows in Peking University Third Hospital. The results showed that residents had a strong initiative and independent learning ability, and mastered well of the basic knowledge and skills of spinal surgery though TBL. However, there were some shortcomings in the study of clinical surgical skills. Therefore, in order to improve the clinical comprehensive ability of residents, it need to design the relation of clinical manifestation and pathology of disease in the implementation of TBL teaching.
