Abstract

Gamma Knife (GK) is a widely used treatment modality for intra-cranial radiosurgery. The machine is manufactured to a very high precision and is routinely used to treat very small target areas in the vicinity of other eloquent structures e.g. a 4mm target shot for trigeminal neuralgia, where the target abuts the brainstem. The small focal spot at isocenter limits the use of standard dosimetry equipment and to this end we present the use of glass rod dosimeter (GRD) for a variety of GK dose measurements.
